A Corliss steam engine:

It's nice that they can operate it, but it'd be nicer if they could figure out a way to have it power something.

  1. Long a go, I used to work for the Steam Society in Hesston, Indiana as a vounteer. THey ahve a similar sized engine (with Corliss valve gear as well) running next to the boiler for the Powerhouse..It was always a discussion....we should ahve this power something....But what to power? Instead, it sat there and turned as slwly as we could get it to run. There were other steam engines running things like sawmills, and the powerhouse, and water pumps and such, but we never could figure out what to do with the "Big Engine".
