Dear Google: You Guys Suck

They've "ugraded" the blogging interface. It is harder to use all around. For instance, I could just hit the enter key to insert line breaks in the HTML editor, because that was a choice that could be set. They've done away with that.

I don't know what idiot was in charge of this. But he (or she) needs to be fired so they can go fuck up Facebook.

  1. Well don't expect WordPress software to be any better. I resisted the awful new 'block editor' as long as possible but must have clicked the wrong widget and now I can't go back to the shitty but usable old version. Can't figure out how to insert images or much else. Why are software 'updates' usually so crappy? If you are using the old wordpress version be careful where you click or you'll dissappear it and be stuck on the new improved heap of steaming waste.

  2. Couldn’t agree more. Impossible to insert videos using HTML.
I think it must have been salary review time. When I was in the service, someone always
decided to “reinvent the wheel” come FITREP time !

  3. It's just horrible. In the old interface, I would see a list of over ten posts on my screen. Now I see maybe four. Each page had up to 100 posts, so it was easy to skip back several months or years. Now you have to scroll down through all of them.

Whomsoever did this needs to be fired and given a job working at the George W. Bush Sewage Treatment Plant.

  4. To get to the old editor, Tod, go My Sites \ WP Admin \ Posts \ All Posts. Yeah, you end up with extra tabs/Windows open but it's the backdoor to everything: graphics, html, comments. Donna tells me Blogger has also chosen RIGHT NOW to upgrade its interface as well so it would appear we are all in draft hell together.

  5. If it isn't busted, Google will fix it
If it isn't tending towards evil, Google will.....

Google has lotsa smart people whose job depends on them finding mind-blowing ways to improve just about everything on the Internet. Google has task forces doing this important work. After they do it, there is a period of benign disinterest during which us denizens figure out ways to do make these magical PITAs do something useful in our lives that used to be simple and easy before said improvements. Then finally, when this improvements become the mainstream that everyone has figured out some bass-ackwards way to use, Google drops them.

Rinse and repeat. You need this. Bend over.

One of Augustine's Laws states that anything that isn't in a design won't break. So Google puts lotsa things in its designs
