Nine drug companies pledged Tuesday that they will not submit vaccine candidates for FDA review until their safety and efficacy is shown in large clinical trials. The move is intended to bolster public confidence amid the rush to make a COVID-19 vaccine widely available, and counter fears of political pressure to have a vaccine before the November presidential election.That they even felt a need to say this speaks volumes about the fears of political interference in the vaccien approval process that they expect to be attempted by Donald Trump.
The CEOs of AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer are among those who signed the pledge to follow "high ethical standards and sound scientific principles." All three companies are conducting large studies of potential vaccines for the disease that has killed nearly 200,000 people in the U.S. and nearly 900,000 worldwide. The other biopharmaceutical companies are Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Novavax, BioNTech and Sanofi.

I will say that comes appreciated. In Donny's world, I would never accept any vaccine for at least the first year of use. No Cholorox for me thank you.

There's a lot of money for them at issue here. Whoever gets the manufacturing and distribution contracts for 330 million doses just stateside is gonna be doing a lot of business, and protecting that pie is probably a smart thing for them to all do right about now.

Also, I think I got that wrong, as most of the vaccine candidates require two doses a week apart, so make that 660 million.
