So Much Winning

The U.N. Security Council on Friday resoundingly defeated a U.S. resolution to indefinitely extend the U.N. arms embargo on Iran, with the Trump administration getting support from only the Dominican Republic but vowing further action to prevent Tehran’s sale and export of conventional weapons.
Can anyone offer another time when an American-sponsored resolution in the Security Council was only supported by one other nation?

Note that the Chinese are saying that, because the Trump Administration withdrew from the Iran Nuclear Accord, that what the Trump Administration proposes or threatens under that agreement is meaningless. Sort of like this:
France and Germany have quit talks on reforming the World Health Organization in frustration at attempts by the United States to lead the negotiations, despite its decision to leave the WHO, three officials told Reuters.
...
“Nobody wants to be dragged into a reform process and getting an outline for it from a country which itself just left the WHO,” a senior European official involved in the talks said.
When you take your ball and go home, don't be shocked if the game goes on without you. That's something that Trump can't understand.

America may never again be the unquestioned global leader, the indispensable nation. And that is due to the global sabotage wreaked by Donald Trump.

  2. I don't see where being number one is such a good thing. I'm sure we're all familiar with the Gunfighter Syndrome: there's always someone looking to be number one. Eventually someone's gonna' come gunning for you. It is a statistical inevitability.

Speaking of inevitability, back fifteen or so years ago before I started my own gig and was contributing at places where early bloggers congregated I harped a few times on how 'Muirka, Fuck Yeah! has grown too large, too diverse, spread across far too much territory, it is a statistical probability of no mean consequence it will implode. Like a perpetual motion machine that has exhausted its fuel or maggots consume the host, it will fail.

  3. Won the week by getting some Pegboard installed in my son's garage. Fighting chaos locally. Now for determining tool location; that's a whole other discussion.

Ten Bears: I wasn't aware that a perpetual motion machine needed fuel! But Magats will do, if you get my drift.
