More From the St. Louis Karens

  1. Under Ca. law "brandishing a firearm" is a crime. I presume that isn't a countywide ordinance. Also, as far as I saw in the pictures, the protestors were on the sidewalk as well.
You would think a couple of "lawyers" would know better, but tRumpism trumps rational thoughts.
I'd love to see that kind of privilege behind bars.

  2. They may be cooked. I'm presuming that charges will be forthcoming.

  3. Brandishing is a misdemeanor in Michigan.

  4. If that AR goes off with him holding it lefty, he's gonna get a nice hot cartridge case in his left nipple.

  5. The female Karen seems to have some cheap-jack .380. I don't know which build of AR he has.

  6. GQ magazine came up with this amusing excerpt from a 2018 feature on their house:

The two Carrara marble urns out front, copies of a pair at the Vatican, had turned black, obscuring Neptune and his attending dolphins. The imported Caen limestone in the entry hall had been painted battleship gray, and the intricate wood carvings in the dining room (which, as Mark points out, are so detailed, you can see the birds’ individual claws), were smothered in layers of white and robin’s-egg blue. What had once been St. Louis’ most dazzling mansion now felt more like a haunted house.

  7. There is a story floating around the protesters were inside a gated
neighborhood after breaking down the gate. That on surface make
    their activities minimally trespass.

They looked like a bunch of nuts to me.

  8. Eck!, there is a lot floating around.

Some of the neighborhood (Portland Place in Central West End) IS gated, and the streets are private property. However, coming from a different direction, the sole indication of a “private street” is a small black and gold sign, not a gate. Laws regarding brandishing and threatening would consider the person’s being threatened being on the street/sidewalk and apply within the neighborhood regardless of private property status.

The gate the protestors entered was unlocked and open, initially. Later pictures show the damaged gate, but no video or picture evidence has emerged showing who or when.

The entry into the neighborhood was a result of a protest (protected activity) proceeding directly to the mayor’s (public official) residence along a route that was not secured against entry. How that will play into the trespass aspect is well beyond this layman's knowledge, however Missouri lawyers commenting on the video generally agree the couple cannot control who uses the private street they “own”, since the HOA technically owns the streets and the Missouri Castle Doctrine doesn’t apply beyond the property line.

Based upon the Comrade’s link, they are both in deep doo-doo...she deeper than he. Waving a PPK knockoff around with your finger on the trigger certainly leaves little room for defense. At least he keeps his finger outside the trigger guard in the pictures and videos I’ve seen.

And I just found this gem...

Mercury News: Circuit Attorney for the city Kimberly M. Gardner issued a statement that she was alarmed by the events and her office is investigating.

“We must protect the right to peacefully protest, and any attempt to chill it through intimidation or threat of deadly force will not be tolerated,” she said in her statement. “Make no mistake: we will not tolerate the use of force against those exercising their First Amendment rights, and will use the full power of Missouri law to hold people accountable.”
