Four Minneapolis officers involved in the arrest of a black man who died in police custody were fired Tuesday, hours after a bystander’s video showed an officer kneeling on the handcuffed man’s neck, even after he pleaded that he could not breathe and stopped moving. In what universe is it OK to handcuff a guy, put him prone on the asphalt and then kneel on his fucking neck?
Note that the Minneapolis P.D.'s initial statement was self-serving bullshit:
"He was ordered to step from the car … after he got out he physically resisted officers … officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and the officers noticed the male was going into medical distress," Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said."Medical distress"... yep, brought on by a cop kneeling on the the dead guy's neck for ten minutes.
Minneapolis is going to be sued to a fare-the-well for deficient training of their cops.
The guy doing the kneeling will count himself fortunate if he doesn't end up spending decades in a prison.
One thing you may have heard of is "excited delirium". That may be a real medical condition, but mostly it seems to be the coroner's diagnosis that gets made when some black dude dies in police custody.

On the plus side, we are seeing now a new willingness for the authorities to hold Officers accountable...not immediately and not always, but certainly faster than before. Progress is slow and painful.
ReplyDeleteRecently released videos (that was on national news) shows that he was not resisting the officers.
ReplyDeleteThank god that telephones can record videos - if not, then the police can get away with a lot
Ah. Thanks for clearing that up, Comrade.
ReplyDeleteSo... when a black Somalian affirmative action PD hire shoots a lady from his squad car for calling 911... why is nothing said about that? And why is nothing said about the looting and burning going on as the vibrants mourn this tragedy by burning down their own neighbourhoods?
Just curious...
You have your own blog; take it up, there.
ReplyDeleteAs to the earlier shooting, maybe you should do some research before flapping your gums.
My mistake Comrade. Let the virtue signalling continue! ;)
ReplyDeleteI take it that you approve of cops killing helpless people, That’s about what I expected, frankly.
ReplyDelete(Take your “virtue-signalling” shit and blow it out your ass.)
Perhaps they didn't raise as much of a stink over the Damond shooting because first, a conviction was obtained against the cop, second, that was the only high profile black cop shooting of a white victim there in recent memory when there have been three black men killed by white cops there recently, and no convictions have been obtained (yet) in those cases that I am aware of, and three, they're white, so they don't have to.

Filthie argues that wrong is only when it's black-on-white. He seems to be okay with white-on-black or black-on-black. What folks like him fail to realize is that wrong is wrong. Color has nothing to do with it.
