Senior Trump administration officials have pushed American spy agencies to hunt for evidence to support an unsubstantiated theory that a government laboratory in Wuhan, China, was the origin of the coronavirus outbreak, according to current and former American officials. The effort comes as President Trump escalates a public campaign to blame China for the pandemic.Once again, we have an administration that has already reached an unsupported conclusion and is now pushing the intelligence community to support their whackadoodle ideas.
What's going on, this time, is Trump's search for anyone else he can blame to deflect from his being asleep at the switch for months, when he was claiming that there'd be no outbreak, that the virus was totally under control, and that claims of a pandemic was a hoax.
Those who parrot Trump's bullshit are not to be trusted with anything sharper than a beach ball.

ReplyDeleteI don't see what this would get him, even if he was successful in planting the story. Regardless of the virus' origin, the big unavoidable story is his inadequate response to it. Dr. Michael Osterholm (U. of Minn epidemiologist)was in print by Feb 5th saying it was already here, so it's not just the deep state intelligence community sounding the alarm. To paraphrase Jaws, we're going to need a bigger rug (to sweep this under).
