Under the Radar

With the Coronavirus pandemic spreading across the country, stories like this, which might have gotten more attention, aren't being seen:
A concealed carry permit holder fatally shot a woman outside a north Tulsa shopping center Friday evening after she reportedly opened fire on customers.
...
A man with a concealed carry permit reportedly told arriving officers that he shot the woman after she started shooting at customers outside the shopping center.
...
Video reportedly showed the woman was involved in an earlier altercation in the parking lot. The woman left the shopping center and returned about three minutes later, when she pulled a gun and opened fire, according to the news release.
She was reportedly mad because a pickup truck was partially blocking the parking lot. She yelled at them, got her gun and then began shooting. No shocker, she had a record of acting ignorant.

  3. Yeah but mass senseless crowd sniping has dropped way off in the USA. For obvious reasons.
She'd seen too much teevee, sounds like. Lack of imagination of what gunshots do to protoplasm and bone matter.
Lack of empathy with others. Deepsested resentments that on teevee are always successfully settled by the redemption of rapid gunfire. The apparently only available plot these days.
Why didn't all the vampire movies and teevee get us ready for this shock? Luckily I never had to view any of them but was that about conditioning us to kill sick people? Is mowing down zombies or dead people or whatever valuable training? Like Ender's Game?
Are facial recognition software stocks falling yet? Now that we're all supposed to look like young Dr Kildare, as played by Ben Casey, in his OR scrubs and maskirovka, directly before slashing.
'These are my OR scrubs.' Oh, are they?

  4. Oh, yeah, speaking of valuable training. The stretched out cashier lines at grocery stores could also prove valuable if COVID-19 deploys grenades.
Why the NRA stopped at small arms I'll never know. To me, the word militia implies cannons and grenades. NRA must be Deep State. Like that never trumper Clint Eastwood.

  5. We're coming unglued, and unfortunately it isn't going to reflect well on the few of us. Sounds like this guy had opportunity to assess before committing. Were I ever in this situation I fear my first thought would be "will I be mistaken for a bad guy?" and take cover. Sad. And sadly I fear also we're gonna see more of it. We have a sizable population with both limited grasp of and sizible stockpiles in reality, and as they stress out, come unglued, they're gonna' use whatever comes most readily to hand to lash out.

Maybe next time the good guy with the gun won't have the opportunity. Or will think better of it.
