Heater du Jour

Through the same private-party sale, I acquired this S&W 65-2:

The gun was essentially non-operable. There was so much crap inside the gun that it could barely cycle, let alone open the cylinder. It took a detailed stripping and treatments with brake cleaner and then penetrating oil to get all of the crap out of the gun. Once that was done, I smoothed the bottom of the rebound slide and broke the edges with an Arkansas stone.

Out of an abundance of caution, I bought the S&W Shop Manual. I had earlier bought a Brownells' rebound slide spring tool, which was well worth it.

The hammer spur was removed post-factory, as the SA notch is still there. The removal was done by someone who knew what they were doing, as in it doesn't appear to have been done by some ham-fisted moron with a Dremel tool.

After a range trip, I swapped out a set of Crimson Trace laser grips to make it a good defensive gun.
