Will No One Rid Me of This Turbulent Priest?

Whether it was that famous phrase or a mafia boss ordering a hit my telling someone "take care of Fredo", the idea that a boss can order his subordinates to do something while maintaining deniability for having done so is a concept that is centuries, if not millennia, old.

Republicans, like a certain former wresting coach, know all about deniability. The only people who don't understand that Trump was soliciting a bribe from Ukraine are those who wouldn't say he did something wrong if he was found coated in blood, holding a knife and standing over Melania's still-oozing corpse.

At this point it's hard to see the Senate voting to remove Trump. GOP Senators, some of whom are still in office, were oh, so hot on removing Bill Clinton for lying about a blow job are prostrating themselves in defense of Trump's subversion of American foreign policy to serve his personal interests.

But the impeachment still has to move forward. For even if the Republicans are too gutless to stand up for the rule of law, history will not be so shy.

At this point, the only true winner is the historical reputation of George W. Bush, who can be assured that he is no longer the worst GOP president in history.

  1. Don’t be too hasty. Mitch will do some calculation before voting and directing his caucus. The check will be what most likely keeps a majority for him...his statements up until then can be discounted.

  3. As many remember we do not recall Nixon fondly.
It may be only part of the whole story but in
the end history is something you never want to
be on the wrong side of.

The republican party needs to look inward and
consider what is happening, it could happen to them.

  4. Trump is Putin's revenge for what we did to the corpse of the Soviet Union.

Yep, a sweet cold revenge for the Kremlin in the greatest Russian espionage/subversion coup since the Rote Kappel spy ring of WWII. The installation of a Putin stooge at the very top. And no brainwashing or queen of spades needed for this Manchurian candidate and president*. Just simple corruption via loans and gifts to trump from Putin puppet banks and bankers.
Nixon was simi-rehabilitated after many years of shunning as was the odious Bush the Younger.
The same could happen with trump, perhaps after some year's comfy golf exile near the Black Sea. Is there a statute of limitations for treason?
