USPSA Newbie
I was one of three revolver shooters. One had a Ruger GP.100, the other had some kind of eight-shot 9mm running on moon clips. I was probably the only shooter in the entire match with a leather holster. The autos I saw ran from stock Glocks to full-gamer 1911s. The only malfs I saw were with 1911s. They seemed to be gamer guns. The 8-shooter had a moonclip of rounds which didn't work.
It was fun, even though the heat index went over 100degF. I had belt pouches for six reloaders and, on two stages, I went through all of them. Five stages, some with moving targets. On one evil one, you had to hit a popper and then a no-shoot target briefly dropped away from a shoot target. I screwed that up, so I had to carefully aim and hit the valid target in the head. Which I did, but barely. I bobbled one reload and dumped the rounds. Oh, well.
The really young guys were running through the stages. I walked. It was too hot and I'm too old for that nonsense.

Awesome
ReplyDeleteI was the top female revolver shooter. Overall, I came in last.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of switching to Safariland Comp-IIs for loaders. But I likely didn't have the gun pointing down for the reload.
Overall last is still better than a bunch that didn’t even try. Sounds like fun, and isn’t that the real mission, along with practice?
ReplyDeleteAwesome that you used a 686. Awesome that you did it. Awesome you didn't collapse in the heat and require hospitalization. Awesome you went out there and competed.
