Work is expected to begin this summer to replace fencing outside the perimeter of the White House with a taller barrier in an effort to improve security.Only it's not the one he's been bleating about.
The roughly 3,500-foot fence that surrounds the White House grounds currently stands at about eight feet high. The new structure will measure at more than 13 feet high.

Meanwhile, Trump is getting his panties in a twist over Nancy Pelosi's comment that she'd prefer to see him in prison.
President Trump on Friday lashed out at Speaker Nancy Pelosi, calling her “a disgrace" after the California Democrat privately told lawmakers she wants to see the president “in prison.”Republicans have similarly been wringing their hands over this.
Gee. Funny how short their memory is. I guess they don't recall Trump presiding over chants of "lock her up" at his rallies. I guess they don't recall Trump telling Hillary Clinton, to her face, that if he had his way, she'd be in jail.
It's been Republicans who have been chanting for criminal prosecutions of opponents. That it was their guy who may have done something worthy of going to prison is savorable.
Not impressed by the fence design or optics. The pillars still look to be easily surmountable, and the “anti-climb” features on the metalwork certainly look medieval in nature. It’s interesting to see how they sought to make the mortar joints as small as possible, to reduce climbing risk, but still kept them. Seems stupid when you could avoid them completely.
ReplyDeleteRead an interesting editorial that suggested “imprisonment” is a trigger word for Donnie, vice “impeachment”.
I saw that Hillary's brother passed away today. I posted on FB asking that people who I know pass on, at least in spirit, their condolences to the family. Politically, I am at the opposite end of the spectrum with Hillary. However, common decency and the fact that we are all American's require that we set those aside and allow them to mourn like any of us would wish to be allowed to.
ReplyDeleteIf he doesn't like talk about him in prison, perhaps he should have thought about that before he did the ten or so acts of obstruction of justice spelled out in clinical detail in Mueller's report to contain all three criteria for prosecution.

After hearing "Lock her up" from the turnip for many weeks about Clinton,
ReplyDeletehe has a lot of gall/nerve/stupidity when they same the same about him!
So everyone, lock him up....
Eck!
Thanks for decency, pigpen51, we constantly forget that most on both sides still possess it.
ReplyDeleteIs the purpose of the new and improved White House fence to keep us out or the resident Trump crime family in?

ReplyDeleteBlatant misogyny. Red card.
ReplyDeleteIron City, both. With an anti-climb too, it doesn’t discriminate. It’s like when I questioned why our new security fence had outriggers on the top that angled BOTH ways...with razor wire on them.
ReplyDeleteComrade Misfit,
ReplyDeleteThere are many women who are well qualified to run this country. Myself, I am a conservative, not a Republican. Yet I see a woman or two on the left that I could support, given the right set of circumstances. I have watched Tulsi Gabbard for some time, and am intrigued by her. She seems to be a reasonable person, and although she has some policies that I have trouble with, she is a veteran, which gives her a big plus to me.
The Mueller report is troublesome to me, given what I am reading from it. It is a huge thing, and I won't wade through the entire thing. But even a person totally against Trump should see that the report was poorly done, and the investigation was sloppy.
One thing I do believe, if the Democrats don't start worrying about 2020, and stop trying to deal with the election of 2016, President Trump will win in a landslide. The incumbent always has an edge, and the Democrats are fighting amongst themselves too much, this late in the coming election cycle. I know, there are two years yet, but now days, that is a short time, with one cycle running into the next one.
Nope, pp. Tulsi has a record of being anti-gay and appears to find no problems with the present dictator of Syria:
ReplyDeleteOnce a progressive firebrand, Gabbard has seen her star dim in recent years. Her unlikely support of using the phrase “radical Islam,” hawkish outlook on terrorism, and off-putting relationship with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad alienated early supporters—and that hasn’t been doing her any favors on the campaign trail. Of the 22 Democrats currently running for president, Gabbard is one of 11 with approximately 1 percent voter support, according to the Morning Consult.
House is her internet fundraiser.
In one video, House wonders why a security guard who witnessed the shootings appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show—as did anyone who was following the case. But then he points out that many news events are happening “at the same time.” He connects the killings to internet rumors that the CEO of Mandalay Bay’s parent company sold “90 percent” of his stock “three weeks” before the shooting. He argues that the average person wouldn’t question media coverage of the murders “because they’re so distracted by Harvey Weinstein, by pedo-gate Hollywood…”
“When you start seeing patterns,” House says, “you’ve got to start asking questions.”
House comes off far worse when discussing the Cosby case, criss-crossing his bid to buy NBC with his rape conviction, among other things. “The first time he tried it, his son was randomly killed by the side of the highway. The next time he tried it, this happened.”
He also sees a matrix behind the fact that attorney Lisa Bloom—“a staunch Hillary supporter”—represented both Harvey Weinstein and some of Cosby’s accusers. “Do you think she knew about all the sexual assault Harvey committed?” he asks. “Probably.” He then adds that Bloom “worked to create a panel of women who all accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault.”

Gotta say, you know how to pick 'em!
“But even a person totally against Trump should see that the report was poorly done, and the investigation was sloppy.”
ReplyDeleteI disagree, however I will counterpoint that even a person supporting Trump should be able to see that the Administration did everything in their power to delay, suppress and conceal the report and ensured that no recommendation would be made.
