Retired Lt. Col. Richard “Dick” Cole, the last of the 80 Doolittle Tokyo Raiders who carried out the daring U.S. attack on Japan during World War II, died Tuesday at a military hospital in Texas. He was 103.Col. Cole's memorial service will be held next week, on the 77th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid.
The Raiders now belong to history.
I gather from the coverage that he was Doolittle's copilot. So, he had the shortest takeoff roll of all of them...
