I grew up in Louisville, KY....and Ft. Knox nearby is the home of armor. They have a fabulous tank museum, including one of those, possibly in running condition. I was there coupla times in the 50's and 60's and once in the 80's maybe. They have Army and Marine Corps tanks, German, Brit and Russian (and maybe more) tanks, AA tanks, tank destroyers.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I was there, someone was working on one of these Brit WWI tanks and the side door was open. The reason it's so damn tall is that its engine is that tall...a ll-oo-nnn-gg stroke engine more akin to steam. Each cylinder had a separate water jacket
