Now if they can perhaps be persuaded to create an independent commission to draw the districts, they'd be getting somewhere.

I don't agree with Republican policy, but actual Republicans should be represented in the government anyway.
All I ask is that their representation be proportional to their actual numbers, and if that gives them a fair majority, so be it.

ReplyDeletePoliticians are politicians. They may differ amongst themselves on the method they use to screw the rest of us, but they are still politicians, and still in it for the bucks.
So, one group of pols decides not to do what two other groups do to try to cripple their replacements from the other party, and B.’s response is to lump them all together.

ReplyDeleteThey gave up when the electorate didn't like it. Fear of not being re elected will do that. The R voters need to express their disapproval in a similar manner to make the pols behave.
B: But why would the "R" voters express such disapproval? Isn't it all about "winning"?
ReplyDeleteNJ, NC, WI and MI tried similar tactics. Three of the four were performed by Republican majorities, one was proposed by a Democratic majority. Three were passed, one did not. Your answer is that Republican voters don’t care enough about democracy and rather are all about control? This would explain voter suppression and the anti-abortion movements.
