Around the World

(More Deb's thing, but oh, well.)

The Long Route, 2018.

One sailor, one boat, no stops along the way. No prizes, either.

How hard is it? Other than not having to bring your own water and air, it's the sailing equivalent of flying around the Moon.

  1. I never understood this event. It isn't a race (which I understand), but if you're NOT racing, why not stop and smell the roses along the way. The transatlantic rallies (they are also not races) are almost ocean-going parties. From the Canary Islands to the Leeward Islands. (When they show up, a place can become mighty crowded. The east-to-west Atlantic Rally for Cruisers can has had as many as 2000 boats.)

  2. It does seem like something done by eccentric Englishmen.
