Because It's Friday

A Swiss cog railway.

  1. The Rigi cog railway was the first cog line in the world (1871).
It is now electrified, but the steam locomotives used for some nostalgia runs both date from about 1925. The carriages are historic too, but I don't remember how old they are.

  2. Sorry, the Mt. Washington cog railway was in operation in 1868 and reached the summit in 1869.

  3. I stand corrected. Rigi was the first cog railway in Europe, not the world.
    Service started in 1870.
