Boatload of Xmas Lights

A little more creative than the usual music-driven Xmas light show:

Take a few minutes and enjoy.*

*Three Ships is a pretty Christmas carol, but this verse is stupid:

O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas day, on Christmas day,
O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas day in the morning.

Bethlehem, at least the one that is said to be the birthplace of Jesus, is in the Judean Mountains and is about half-a-mile above sea level. Unless the ships were sailing up the Delaware River and into Bethlehem, PA. But the carol is English and is almost 400 years old, at least a century older than the Bethlehem with access to the sea.

  1. I always thought of them a camels, as mentioned in this little Wiki cut and paste...but who knows. It was real popular in the UK, very seldom heard here in Texas.

“The lyrics mention the ships sailing into Bethlehem, but the nearest body of water is the Dead Sea about 20 miles (32 km) away. The reference to three ships is thought to originate in the three ships that bore the purported relics of the Biblical magi to Cologne Cathedral in the 12th century.[2] Another possible reference is to Wenceslaus II, King of Bohemia, who bore a coat of arms "Azure three galleys argent".[3] Another suggestion is that the ships are actually the camels used by the Magi, as camels are frequently referred to as "ships of the desert".” - Wikipedia

  3. May be over thinking this . 400 years ago most people never got more than 20 miles from where they were born and maps were military secrets . Bethlehem was where ever you imagined it to be .
