Only a Fool Would Take a Professional Spymaster at His Word

Trump is just that sort of fool:
DANANG, Vietnam — President* Trump said on Saturday that he believed President Vladimir V. Putin was sincere in his denials of interference in the 2016 presidential elections, calling questions about Moscow’s meddling a politically motivated “hit job” that was hindering cooperation with Russia on life-or-death issues.
Of course Trump knows, by now, that the Russians have been meddling in our elections. The professional intelligence people have been telling him that.

But Trump won't listen. Deep down in the core of his putrifying soul, Trump knows that his presidency is an illegitimate one, birthed by Russian interference. It gnaws on him. That's why he was so insistent that more people were on the National Mall for his inauguration than anyone else, despite the abundant photographic evidence to the contrary. That's why, a year after the election, he keeps talking about his "victory". He can't stop talking about it becauce he knows it's all built on lies and foreign meddling.

So when his ertwhile boss in Moscow tells Trump "Donald, you know ve had nothing to do with it," Trump has no choice but to believe the lies of a professional spymaster.

  2. Trump may be an idiot, but I am not convinced that the Russia influenced anything or anybody.
The email leaks are separate; if they exposed stupidity and wrongdoing by anyone, even IF they suppressed similar info from the other side, I blame the wrongdoers (e.g., the email leaks).

  4. 3383, you're totally right, it's their fault for not having strong enough security.

In other news, I've always thought that the responsibility for the Nazis sweeping Europe rests squarely on the Benelux countries. If they hadn't had such weak borders...

  5. bmq215- I said nothing about security. You miss the point.
The wrong is what the Party and HRC was shown to be doing.
If you are cool with all of that, and you wish Ms. Brazile would shut up, that's fine.

  6. 3383, some people say that the coffee boy who pled guilty to lying to federal agents, is just a coincidence. Nothing to see here at all.

  7. Dark Avenger, that has nothing to do with "influencing the election".
Russians have been historically inept in general at these measures. They certainly tried with social media and such; what I am saying is they didn't change votes that way.

The current investigation is in progress. It is finding venal idiots, and we will see what else.

  8. Manafort was no "coffee boy". He was the campaign manager. He pushed Pence as the VP pick.

Flynn wasn't exactly a "coffee boy", either.

  9. Also, the guy who pled guilty was no "coffee boy". He was a foreign policy adviser, who Trump touted in at least one interview as being on Trump's team.

Those saying that he was a "coffee boy" are, in my opinion, revealing that their allegiance to Trump comes before their loyalty to the United States.

  10. If a major active measures campaign on social media didn't change one vote, how come the campaigns, all of them these days, pay so much money for the exact same kind of advertising?
