And Yet, He's Working for Said Dimbulb

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster mocked President Trump’s intelligence at a private dinner with a powerful tech CEO, according to five sources with knowledge of the conversation.
...
A sixth source who was not familiar with the details of the dinner told BuzzFeed News that McMaster had made similarly derogatory comments about Trump’s intelligence to him in private, including that the president lacked the necessary brainpower to understand the matters before the National Security Council.
You might recall that Rex Tillerson allegedly said something similar.

Whether McMaster is a toady who will do whatever it takes to cleave close to a center of power or if he is bravely sacrificing his reputation in order to do what he can to preserve the Republic is a question for another time.

Meanwhile, for the first time since Nixon began going batshit, there is active discussion as to a president's powers to order a nuclear strike.

Interesting times.

  1. I've worked for people who I did not think were particularly smart. Never was I dumb enough to say so.

    Neither do I believe it is wise to publicly voice doubts about launch authority (in Canada, iirc, too). I really doubt Trump would try to order an attack in a fit of pique, and I doubt the football keeper would let him.

  2. Didn't that sort of thing bite McChrystal on his behind?

  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my thoughts about Macmaster are:

    1. He's still in the service, so his job is not his to choose, and;
    2. If he's still in the service, it's not kosher to speak ill of the civilian government, and what we've seen is the tiniest tip of the iceberg.

    If that's right, I maybe feel really bad for the guy.
