Three men were charged with attempted homicide after they argued with a group of people protesting a white nationalist’s speech in Gainesville, Fla., and fired a shot at them, police said Friday.Being a felon in possession of a firearm could be some long Federal time, if the Feds bestir themselves. Asshole-1 might even prefer that, as the Florida state prison system isn't supposed to be one of the nicer one.
...
[Asshole the First] fired a single shot that missed the people, police said, and hit a nearby building.
...
[Asshole the First], [Asshole the Second] and [Asshole the Third] were charged with attempted homicide and are in the Alachua County Jail. [Asshole the First] faces additional charges for possession of a firearm by a felon.
[Asshole the First] admitted that he was the shooter, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s arrest report.
Being a felon, carrying a gun and popping off a round in a public place ranks really high up on the Stupidity Scale.
Brandish and discharge a firearm...flee in a vehicle...get arrested without being shot. I wonder how I ever imagined how the perp would look so easily?
ReplyDeleteYeah, funny how that works out for white guys, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteProlly worked out for him because, when caught, he stopped running and resisting and dropped his firearm and obeyed instructions from the trigger happy cops instead of running, struggling and fighting to get away and brandishing the gun while running or at bay.
ReplyDeleteAsk any cop, they'll tell you who does the first and who does the second. 'Tain't always skin color, but mostly is a determining factor as to behavior. Not running, fighting, and obeying the directions goes a long way to save your life when confronted by amped up police.
YMMV
A bus stop filled with unarmed protestors milling around, obviously the PDB was just standing his ground down there in Florida.
ReplyDeleteHe’s just a misunderstood kid, right, B?
ReplyDeleteNope, he's a felon. Glad they caught him. Never said anything about that. Please, don't put words in my mouth, as it were. I commented on how he got arrested without being shot.
ReplyDeleteB., he got a chance to surrender because of what he looked like...YMMV.
ReplyDeleteCome on, people! B is exactly correct in this case.
ReplyDeleteGross overstatements don't change any minds and reinforce a wrong belief, which polarizes both sides and prevents discussion.
B, 3383, we see videos over and over of black men getting to surrender-after no crime-like John Dillenger got to surrender.
ReplyDeleteB, he’s just part of an epidemic of white-on-white crime in this country. When will you people get your act together, and, along with respectable leaders of the white community, step up to denounce this sort of thing?
ReplyDeleteTod G, care to list those videos? Every one I recall involved people resisting, fleeing, and/ or fighting.*
ReplyDeleteEven in the most egregious case- the Walter Scott shooting- Scott tried to evade and resist arrest.
The penalty for resisting arrest isn't death- but why resist at all?
*(Philando Castile should be alive, and that is a tragedy, but what video there is from his shooting still is not "over and over".)
Running isn't a death penalty offense, 3383. Mr. Scott was shot, in the back, for no goddamned good reason other than the cop who shot him thought that he'd get away with it. Let's also not forget that the video showed said cop planting evidence next to Mr. Scott's cooling corpse.
ReplyDeleteThe eight cops who opened fire on two women delivering newspapers--- no charges, no discipline.
Most of the cops who shot two people to doll rags for running from them in Cleveland got their jobs back. But they were harshly penalized, they didn't get paid for their time off.
By the way, some time, you might want to look into the issue of blue-on-blue shootings. The cops who get accidentally killed by other cops aren't white.
Comrade, I was specifically refuting Tod Germanica's contention that there are videos we see "over and over" of black men being gunned down (like Dillinger) with no chance to surrender, and I mentioned that Walter Scott was egregious. I did not mention that the now formwer cop who shot him is in jail.
ReplyDeleteThe (Asshole Cop) is a p.o.s., but if Mr. Scott had stayed in his car, he would have survived the incident.
And I said resisting arrest (which includes running) isn't punishable by death.
I don't disagree your next 3 paragraphs; I'm not sure of the Cleveland incident.
