Interesting Thought About Vegas

This is not my idea:
Most mass shooters, at least of recent vintage, are of the "up close and personal" kind. Whether they are using handguns or long guns, they are close enough to see their victims fall. Besides going out in a blaze of infamy, they seem to want to see the carnage that they are wreaking.

But here? How would he know his score? How would he know if he hit fifty people or five hundred? Night time, from several hundred yards away, it'd be like squirting a hose and wanting to know what blades of grass got wet.

So you lure some schlub to Vegas on a free gambling junket. Get him in the room and set him up to be the fall guy. You'll have several minutes to do what you are going to do, then get out and let them find the dead "shooter.
I can think of a few things wrong with that, especially if the weapons are traced to the dead schlub. But that's surmountable.

What may not be is that there are probably cameras everywhere in those hotels, including in the hallways and the elevators. Ray Rice got caught beating his wife on a camera in a casino elevator.

Still might make for some great conspiracy buff shit.

  1. Next thing you know, people touting this crap will say it was all a liberal plot to turn Americans against gun owners. Or that Hillary is at the bottom of it. Or that actually it's an outtake from a movie and actually never happened at all/.

Don't tell you I didn't say this bullshit is coming.

  2. Asswipe's medical expired years ago. There is no record in the FAA's database of him owning any airplanes.

  3. Regardless the improbability that is not an implausible scenario.

I've for more, reliable information formation, but the thing that keeps tickling the back of my head is why? Nothing we've seen as yet offers a clue.

  4. NYC: Alex Jones is way ahead of you. TTB: The Texas Tower shooting, which was eerily similar to this one (except four stories lower), may have resulted from a brain tumor.

  5. Word from wingnuttistan is that asswipe is a leftist executing Trump supporters. Seriously, they're saying that.
I would speculate that perhaps he didn't like Mondays, but it wasn't even Monday yet.
Cable news seems to be fixating on which gun restrictions could have prevented him from possessing the kind of firepower that allowed him to do so much damage from such a distance (the distance is important security-wise) without considering that a rich gambler can buy any guns he wants, laws or no laws, and this asswipe doesn't seem to have any background issues a thorough check would have caught him up for, so???

Perhaps try a different approach, but what?

  6. Heard an account that creature checked in with 10 bags of luggage. That makes someone setting him up for a fall seem very unlikely. Plus he was a successful accountant...and accountants have to have seen scams and scammers, making a setup further unlikely.

As to the President*, when I heard the news (I wake up at 5AM or so and opened up the NYT website 8 minutes after it hit there), I muttered to myself, "What tone deaf inappropriate tweet will Trump push out?".
It came: "Warmest Condolences". Warm and condolence don't go together...but then he is a man for whom empathy is a foreign language where he never learned the idiom...

  7. Glad to hear someone else went "Huh?" At warmest condolences.

I like the scenario (for a nice book).

Google maps distance measuring shows he was about 500 yards from the center of the venue and 1000 yards from the nearest runway at KLAS. Terminal was a good mile away, but anyone wondering how that's gonna be thought about? I remember the IRA lobbying mortar rounds onto Heathrow, and the security changes in the U.K. from that, so just makes me think. Also, already stories about how this will change hotel security procedures, the security implications for venues that are "overlooked", etc.

Finally, Bill O'Nutjob says "the price of freedom". I'm a little disappointed he didn't break out the "Team America" theme too.

  8. Whoops, last though, some nutjob is already looking at this and thinking I can do better. They may or may not hate America, but they now have another idea of how to inflict some pain and terror, how long before a copy-cat?

  11. Of course, it's a genius move by the gun control... what word do I use here? "Lobby"? No, the NRA is a lobby. Let's call them mourners.

The gun control mourners have hatched a brilliant plan. All they have to do is slaughter a mass of people... then wait. Surely, gun control legislation will soar through the Republican-held Congress. And the Republican-held Senate. And the Republican-held Oval Office. And will be upheld by the Republican-held SCOTUS.

A plan so brilliant... how could it fail?

  12. Still doesn't answer the question: what tripped this otherwise average white guy who basically had it made (wish I were retiring as well as he)'s trigger?

It doesn't fit the pattern. Mossad, the CIA, KGB WTFever fokin' aeh any competent police department could smuggle those guns into as well as select the best room for the field of fire, and pick the wrong patsy.

If it was him (my mother justed posted he's an eighth cousin) it was the most supreme act of cowardice I've ever seen. If not, none-the-less the most supreme act of cowardice I've ever seen carried out with a degree of military precision as to be an act of War.

  13. No, it doesn't fit the pattern, other than being a white dude. He's too old and too successful to fit the mold of the stereotypical young, disaffected/mentally ill/racist loser.

  14. The only motive that seems to make sense to me is that the armaments industry has discovered profit in mass shootings, so they have launched a project of regular mass shootings. If they get caught, the blame will be so thinly-distributed amongst so many powerful corporations that the punishment will be no more than a tiny fine. Less than the financial bump from a recent massacre.

If people protest, that's just another target for a massacre. And all conservative politicians will protect the gun lobby at all costs.

This process will last until the population dips enough that profits start to taper off. That, and enthusiastic gun owners who have hundreds and hundreds of guns start to entertain the uncomfortable thought that they can't actually wield more than one or two dozen weapons in a crisis.

  18. The depressing thing is just how quickly it started that way. To them, fact one was that because he wasn't trumpeted as a tRump supporter immediately, he must be a liberal. Then they start running with "no motive" because he's a rich, white guy...sigh.
