EB,
ReplyDeleteHave you been following Doc in Kansas? Another '29 restored to flying condition.
"Stand 'em up."
ReplyDeleteLove that. I agree with the narrator--flying an airplane without being able to handle the throttles directly is counter to everything I've ever done in flying.
One of my pet peeves (after 30 years as a professional communicator) is the phrase "roger that" (or "copy that"). Every "roger" is, by definition, roger "that". I don't know why it's propagated so much through the amateur communicator community. I've been gone from the professional community for 20 years, so I can't testify as to whether it's crept into the argot of some of the bottom dwellers (we weren't ALL aces). But it grates on me every time.
Great video. I've ridden jump seat many times, and this is an excellent example of crew coordination and professionalism. Props (if you'll pardon the pun) to the crew.

Too bad they burned the Kee Bird up in Greenland. Not many Superforts left, a manufacturing scheme bigger than the Manhattan Project.
ReplyDeleteBrad, yes, I have. There are posts on Doc.
ReplyDeleteTod, yes. That was a damn shame and, some have argued, foreseeable.
