President* Trump thrust himself into a bitter Persian Gulf dispute on Tuesday, taking credit for Saudi Arabia’s move to isolate its smaller neighbor, Qatar, and rattling his national security staff by upending a critical American strategic relationship.Because everything has to be about Trump. A smarter president would have realized that publicly taking the side of one ally over another was an incredibly stupid thing to do. Especially when the country that he is siding against is the host nation for American military bases.
A smarter president would have shut up and let the diplomats do their jobs. But no, not Trump. Everything has to be about him.
He is a whack job. Sooner or later, even Republicans will begin to acknowledge the damage that that 70-year old child is doing.
Dolt-45. Hadn't heard that one yet. Good one.

ReplyDeleteIran is trying to move in to fill the diplomatic vacuum. I really hope this isn't a bullshit pretext for a war with them. They have twice the population and three times the area of Iraq, and it would not go well.

Doug, they fought a war in the 1980s and Iran lost WW1-level numbers of soldiers. Of course, the current leaders of Iraq are not anywhere near as vicious as Saddam, so who knows.
ReplyDeleteNone-the-less, the Saudis are no match for Iran. Israel perhaps, but the best Saud can do is kick Yemen's ass; Quatar if we evacuate our CENTCOM forward operations base there really quick. Like, overnight.
ReplyDeleteIs trump just too fucking stupid to realize the USA has a major air base in Qutar? The pentagon quickly issued a supporting statement for Qutar in direct opposition to trump's tweet. Unbelievable. Trump is sure making the 'Deep State' look good. Go Deep State!
