COMMENT MODERATION IS IN EFFECT UFN. This means that if you are an insulting dick, nobody will ever see it.
SHOULD Nixon have? Yes. And so should have LBJ, Kennedy, Ike, & Truman.
ReplyDeleteNJT, you are going to leave FDR out?
ReplyDeleteFDR should have. So should have President Hoover.
ReplyDeleteJedgar, though, was, by all accounts, a blackmailer. He had plitical dirt on people of the kind that, while in the Trump era would get a huge yawn, back then would be scandalous.
Think of what we know: FDR's relationship with Missy Hand. Ike's with Kay Summersby. JFK's many affairs. LBJ's shady deals that made him millions. Hard to think of what he might have had on Truman, but the political fallout might have been too much or him to take.
Jedgar had all of those private files that his lover, Clyde Tolson, destroyed after Hoover died. The sad thing about him doing hat is we might have had hard proof of what an utterly despicable weasel Hoover really was.
