ST. LOUIS • A woman who stepped out of the 7-Eleven where she worked for a smoke break found herself in a shootout early Monday when an armed man tried to rob her.If that's what happened, then patch her up and give her a medal.
She pulled out a gun and exchanged fire with the would-be robber.
The 30-year-old robber was shot in the chest, arm and thigh, police said. He died from his injuries at St. Louis University Hospital.
The 35-year-old woman, whom police have not named, was shot twice in the leg. Police said the woman was conscious and breathing when she was taken to a hospital, where she was stable.
7-Eleven will probably fire her:
So.she may be looking for work.
The 7-Eleven link doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteThe Law demands workers have breaks, even though as a mechanic I have found many, many ways that employers go around that.
ReplyDeleteWhat the law leaves open is the area where you can take a break.
Congrats to this woman for not being a victim but isn't her employer at least partially responsible for not providing a break area?
I might think that would cancel out her use of self defense at her place of work?
But, you're the lawyer, not me.

Chuck, worked in some browsers, not others. I added the image.
ReplyDeletew3ski, don't know. Maybe issues of also not providing a safe break area. Still, corporate America largely seems to prefer dealing with issues regarding dead employees rather than issues regarding employees who kill robbers.
I suspect Corporate America's preference is anything that they can throw lawyers at...hence firing people, no safe areas, chemical exposure, et al.
ReplyDeleteIf they have a break area they probably don't allow smoking , Is there any where in North America where non-smokers have to share space with smokers ?
