Agog. A word I seldom find a use for, is very appropriate here. Whether maturity after leaving office and reflecting or some other reason, GWB is sounding like a true statesman. I would have bet a lot on me never saying such a thing.

ReplyDeleteThe difference between W and Trump is qualitative, not quantitive. Bush at least seems to have acknowledged the need to operate inside the rule of law and established norms of governance. Trump just wants to tear that all down as fast as possible, so he can do whatever the hell he wants, unimpeded.
There is far more at stake here than good or bad policy or even a decision to go to war. The fact that the previous record holder for most right-wing modern president is taking notice of that speaks volumes as the seriousness of the situation.
