What was notable was Trump's utter tone-deafness about where he made his remarks-- in front of the CIA's Memorial Wall, also known as the Wall of Heroes:
It's probably not an understatement to say that the CIA has as much regard for the Memorial Wall as the Army has for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Those who are career CIA will regard what Trump did as being about one step more respectful towards their dead (and to the Agency) than if he had smeared the wall with a handful of shit.
Especially since they might feed him false intel if it will make him look foolish without redounding on them, and I'd bet someone at the agency is already working on that (if they have a secret satire division, that is, and that would not surprise me).
ReplyDeleteAnd he brought his little peanut gallery to cheer for him and laugh at his jokes. Malcolm Nance pointed out that the room only has a few rows of seating, so Trump's cheering section was standing off to the side, and you can see the CIA people in the chairs turn their heads and look to see who was laughing at his "joke" about the dishonesty of the press.

Al, the difference between the two appearances (Obama working the room, Trump's airing of his grievances) was striking.
