Just the Sort of Thing One Would Expect From Our Sexual Predator-in-Chief

At the Department of Justice, the blueprint calls for eliminating the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, Violence Against Women Grants and the Legal Services Corporation and for reducing funding for its Civil Rights and its Environment and Natural Resources divisions.
So, basically any program that reduces the stamping power of the state upon the faces of the powerless will be slashed or eliminated. All so that tax cuts for the wealthy can be preserved and their taxes reduced even further.

No surprise there.

  1. Or, he is cutting useless jobs from the payroll.

Not like those folks are't redundant and fairly useless.

(Guess it depends on yer viewpoint, doesn't it?)

  2. The Violence Against Women grants help fund women's shelters; as those services are cut watch for an increase in battered women, murdered women.

  3. They want to eliminate the NEA and the NEH also, which makes a twisted sort of sense. A vision of the country as profoundly ugly as his doesn't go well with supporting the arts.

  4. "Cutting useless jobs from the payroll", along with private corporations do things better and cheaper, was the refrain when they privatized Flight Service Stations (except those in Alaska, saved by a Republican congressman who also was opposed to privatizing the ATC tower in Anchorage, because he could see the planes heading towards his hotel when he was in Anchorage and didn't trust the private controllers to do as good a job).

Except, service quality tanked and pilots stopped using the FSS phone lines, and those that did found their flight plans didn't get filed half the time. Then the contractor came back and admitted that their bid was too low and demanded Congress pay them more. Now, if you took the revised terms and compared them to the costs before privatization, the spin-off of FSS cost the US money...and killed some pilots...but, hey, some corporations made money, eh.
