The American Civil Liberties Union normally takes in about $4 million in online donations in a year.
After Trump won: 120,000 donations for $7.2 million.
After Trump announced his Muslim ban: 350,000 donations for Over $24 million, and that's just during the weekend. Its membership has doubled.
You can go here and donate to various causes on behalf of politicians and trolls who hate them.
On another note, to the various groups that have allied themselves with President* Trump, if he continues to make a hash out of things and the pendulum swings back, hard, over the next few elections, care to guess what's going to happen to your pet causes?

Trump was an exact consequence of that which you mention. Had Bill Clinton been there before Trump, he wouldn't have stood a chance. Barry overreached and pissed MANY folks off.
ReplyDeleteIf Trump doesn't overreach, he might (maybe) get a second term. If he is as bad as you folks think he is going to be, then yeah, he'll be out on his ear.
If the DNC wouldn't have been co-opted by Hillary and nominated her, Trump might well not have won. Sanders would have had a chance to beat him.
We do have swings. But Trump won even with the media and the unions pulling for Hillary. The DNC candidate starts out with an advantage, but he won anyway. If he can govern from the middle, and just fix the things he says he will, then he has a chance. If not, well, we will get another Barry. Which prolly won't do the country and the citizens any good, economy wise. If he can deliver on the economy, he might well get re-elected.
Remember though, Trump is really a New York Democrat.
It's very fortunate that the ACLU has some resources right now as the Justice department has now switched sides and will be pushing against them instead of helping them.

ReplyDeleteI've been a card-carrying member since '05 but I'm not re-upping. If they're getting all those fat-cat millions they don't need my measly $30 bucks a year as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteTod, then send them $5 or $10. Membership numbers are also an important metric. A million+ members isn't velveeta.
