NBC on Sunday suspended "Today" show personality Billy Bush indefinitely after he was caught on a videotape from 2005 in a crude conversation about women with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.A cynical person would suggest that the duration of Bush's suspension will depend on who wins on Nov. 8th.
"Today" Executive Producer Noah Oppenheim said in a memo Sunday that "there is simply no excuse for Billy's language and behavior on that tape." Bush, who hosts the third hour of the "Today" show, has been suspended "pending further review of the matter," Oppenheim said.
NBC had, for a time, members of both the Bush and Clinton families on their payroll. You can speculate amongst yourselves as to why they'd do that.
As for the debate itself, it's been less than 24 hours and the Trump campaign is in "what Donald meant to say is..." mode.
Geraldo Rivera has found more embarrassing Trump tapes, presumably in Al Capone's vault.
if Hillary clinton had one...just one...accomplishment to talk about during her 40 years of public service, we would not be talking about trump's taxes, or his locker room trash talk....
ReplyDeletebut she doesn't, so we are
It wouldn't matter if she had cured cancer and captained the first expedition to Mars. Clinton Derangement Syndrome runs deep. Nobody'd pay attention.
ReplyDeleteSo does sexism, which is why Trump and his fellow-travelers are focusing on what Bill Clinton did or is alleged to have done.
Could BB be subject to the "Gingrich Rules"? If so, he'll be back in about six months. That's how long they exile the Newtor when he says something too far gone to ignore. Then they bring him onto Meet The Press where he agrees not to throw bombs or shit himself on camera and they agree to not bring up whatever verbal atrocity had him exiled this time. They get a ratings boost and he gets his reputation burnished back into the profitable grift zone, so everyone except journalism and the audience is happy.
ReplyDeleteAlternately, Mr. Billy could meet a bad end in a dark alley at the hands of one or more newly unemployed Republican congress critters...
