Restoring a steam locomotive:

  1. Wonder how many old stationary steam engines are still around. Years ago I came across one a farmer friend had salvaged. That engine supplied electricity for a near-by town of about 4,000. When it was set up and running it would've filled a building 20x60; in pieces, it took up about half of a 20x40 metal pole shed. He got it for way less than scrap price and hauled it off to his place cuz "we might need it again sometime." He probably figured a nuke war might make it relevant back in the '50s when he got it.
