ReplyDeleteGerald, there are a lot of Tea Partiers (white folk) who seem to believe that if they rise up in rebellion, that the Army won't shoot them down.
ReplyDeleteThey're quite wrong and the evidence for that goes as far back as the Whiskey Rebellion. But they still persist in their delusion.
West Virginia Mine wars...post-WW1 use of Guard and Army troops to put down civil insurrection, with no less than Billy Mitchell himself showing up with bombers, which he advocated for use in putting down such disturbances.
ReplyDeleteAnd the only militia guys more laughable than the ones who think that the military won't fight them are the ones who say that they'll take on the military and WIN (because five or six fat guys in store-bought BDUS can easily defeat professional soldiers who have the latest equipment and training and unlimited back-up available).

ReplyDeleteMost all of those "African Americans" shot by the police had it coming, just FYI. A few did not, but most--and I mean almost all of them--did.
Murph, there was a time I might have agreed. But there is beaucoup evidence that the cops are faster on the trigger when the person on the other end of the gun isn't white. It's been over 30 years since the last dead cop in a blue-on-blue shooting was a white guy. The bravest cops of all are black plainclothes cops responding to a hot call.
