Beating Airbus's Electric Aircraft Across the English Channel

  1. The trouble with flying an electric airplane across the channel is that after landing you have to recharge it for the return trip AND THE DAMN PLUG WON'T FIT!!! ;-)

  2. "motor supplier Siemens told Pipistrel it didn't want is motor used for the flight"

Wow. Sounds like Siemens motors are completely unreliable. Good to know.

  3. The obvious theory is that Siemens was pressured by Airbus.

It's hilarious that everyone was already in 2nd place, and thanks for remembering MacCready's solar powered electric flight. Granted it was a gossamer version of an aircraft - the modern ones are more like an aircraft I'd like to be flying over that much water. Can't swim.

    MaCready speed-to-fly still rules.
