ReplyDeleteGarratts weere built for narrow guages and to go around tight corners. Otherwise they never caught on. So what were the disadvantages?
ReplyDeleteA couple disadvantages come to mind. First, the drivers are not under the main weight of the locomotive (the boiler), which would cut down on the adhesive effort. Second, the cylinders are not near the stack, which would cut down on the effectiveness of the blastpipe.
