From the looks of that cockpit, over-the-shoulder visibility was pretty poor. It wasn't important, for the -102 was built to shoot down bombers. It wasn't a dogfighter.

ReplyDeletewhat amazes me still is Geo W B in fact was able to fly one of these - not much and not for long but still... I had rides in these and the situational awareness required to stay a step ahead of the aircraft was scary

ReplyDeleteBut hans, Dubya isn't stupid, just monumentally lazy and disinterested. I'm sure that flying a hot and vicious aircraft, like hanging, tends to focus the mind wonderfully.
