The Daily Show devoted two-thirds (third part of that) of the show last night to mocking the cretins who carry long guns into stores and restaurants.
Do you OC folks not get it, now? As others have said, you are to the cause of gun rights what the Westboro Baptist Church is to freedom of speech and religion.
YOU ARE NOT HELPING!!! YOU ARE GIVING AID AND COMFORT TO OUR ADVERSARIES!!
If the cause of gun rights was a war, you guys would be the Italian Army. You're not helping.
In every debate that comes up from here on out, the Bloombergers will point to you guys as the reason why the right to carry should be further restricted, if not eliminated.
Sit this one out, guys. Please. I know you think you're fighting for gun rights. But your effect is quite the opposite. Yes, you believe that your so-called "protests" serve the cause. But please heed the words of Oliver Cromwell: "I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken."
For make no mistake about it, you are mistaken.

I am in definite agreement with you. The OC people are idiots on this one. Most families DO NOT want to go to a family dining facility and be confronted by clowns with patrol rifles!
ReplyDeleteI am as pro 2nd Amendment as they come, and conservative to the bone. I would not want to take my grandkids to a dining facility and have them see these OC clowns. I take them to the shooting range, teach them safety, proper handling, and respect for firearms as well as the laws and the law enforcement community. I have nothing against patrol rifles, I have several of them, but I have found that a bit of discretion and common sense goes a long way to defending or 2A rights.
An empty holster, or say one with a nerf pistol would be far more effective in my opinion for pro OC Protestors than rifles. The goal is to educate the public, not intimidate them. The way some of these loons are carrying their rifles, it's as if they're trying to intimidate.
ReplyDeleteLet's face it, the 2/3rds of Americans who don't own guns don't want to feel like they're on the streets of Mogadishu every time they go out in public. Concealed carry, sure. Open carry in areas where you'd expect people to open carry, such as on a ranch or in a hunting area, sure. People in obvious police uniforms? Well okay, people will tolerate that. But marching around on city streets with patrol rifles wearing jeans and t-shirts or hunting gear? That's just weird, and most people associate that kinda thing with third world nations, not with civilized places. And no amount of demonstrating by these idiots will change that, because look, it IS weird to walk down a city street with an openly displayed long gun unless you're some sorta Islamist militant in Mogadishu. That's just how the world is.
