The NYPD is shutting down its ethnic-profiling spy unit. Not because they routinely violated people's Constitutional rights or any of that shit, nosiree!
They're shutting down because, after 11 years on the job, they not only haven't prevented a single terrorist attack, they haven't generated a single usable lead.
Nothing, nada, nichts, nichevo. 11 years of sneaking informants into mosques and they did nothing. A single NYC meter maid does more for the city in a single shift than those "demographic detectives" did in over a decade.
But don't shed a tear for them, folks. No doubt that based on their perfect record of zero leads, zero arrests and zero convictions, the Department of Justice can easily find jobs for them in their bank fraud unit.
