Your Sunday Morning Rocket Noise

Saturn V engine test at the Marshall Center in Huntsville.

They really did mount five F-1s in a test stand and light them all off. The noise must have been terrific.

  1. EB,
I recall reading not too long ago that the five main booster engines produce more power in one minute than the whole of the UK consumes in one hour, at peak consumption. Not bad for something that burned kerosene mixed with liquid oxygen and was designed in the early 1960's.

  2. Awesome.

Interesting about the flames. Wasn't the first stage Kerosene and LOX, not LH and LOX?
