Your Sunday Morning Jet Noise
\
It's not terribly unusual to see these trashhaulers at larger airports around the country. Capable of carrying outsized cargo (and 55 tons of it), the Il-76 doesn't need handling equipment to load or unload cargo, unlike the commercial Western jet freighters.

ReplyDeleteOf more interest is the tail-gunner's station right under the rudder.
After reading you SWA story above and then checking these comments, I found myself wondering just what upcharge Spirit would put on a tail-gunner seat.

ReplyDelete" used to know a guy who defected from Romania and worked in the aviation field there.
They used to call Ilyushins Fuel to Noise Convertors.
(of course, after next major Solar Event wipes out electronics for a while, these beasts will still fly while there is still Jet Fuel to fill them...)"
