Your Sunday Morning Jet Noise

From Boeing, the difference in noise between a 707 and a 787.

  1. Two vs. four, but also the difference between pre-noise pollution/post and pure turbine (707) and turbofan (787). And the other piece is the advances in technology in 50 years!!!

  2. Those four JT3D-3Bs had 18,000lbs of thrust apiece, while those two GEnx engines have about 57,000lbs of thrust apiece.

  3. Went to an air show a few months ago (before obummer killed them off) and saw F-16s, F-18s, and F-22s in action. I've always loved the noise and enjoyed the F-16 for that reason. The F-22 is an amazing bird, but you just can't beat the sky-ripping noise of the older engines.
