CLEVELAND, Ohio — A November car chase ended in a "full blown-out" firefight, with glass and bullets flying, according to Cleveland police officers who described for investigators the chaotic scene at the end of the deadly 25-minute pursuit. The two people in the car they were chasing, both of whom were unarmed, were both shot to death in the fusillade. No gun was found, but they police lab said their hands had gunshot residue on them, which seems a bit, well, suspicious.
But when the smoky haze -- caused by rapid fire of nearly 140 bullets in less than 30 seconds -- dissipated, it soon became clear that more than a dozen officers had been firing at one another across a middle school parking lot in East Cleveland.
The one cop who fired 49 shots into the car probably ought to be issued a spear and magic helmet, instead of a gun.

Woo hoo! Paid vacation for killing perps! Double points for them being unarmed!
ReplyDeleteThey were close to setting up a circular firing squad. And close to deserving it.
It appears that cops have been attending the Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy for their marksmanship training lately...
ReplyDeleteToo much TV. They were waiting for the pyrotechnics to kick in. Or they figured they were in a movie and bullets only hurt the bad guys. That was a lot of flying lead at any one time. You figure by the third clip they might have got an idea, but no.

Yep, and at least 46 bullet holes in the blue Toyota Tacoma in Los Angeles that the LAPD mistook for the grey Nissan Titan that Whatsisname was driving, and three bullet holes in the two women in the truck... and the fragment of video I saw yesterday of the gun battle when they cornerned Whatsisname in the cabin in Big Bear (before he shot himself, once) sounded like an action movie!
