This one smells kinda rank. Even ranker than Jo Ann Emerson's abrupt departure.
While I am not at all sad to see this particular clown leave the Senate, I suggest that you hold your cheering until we see what sort of batshit-crazy fucker gets appointed by Gov. Haley.
He was the guy that set up that punching bag, Alvin Greene. Yeah, he put serious effort into that last election. It must be something serious to chase him away.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a simpler explanation. These fleeing folks were voted on a promise to end Obamacare, prevent tax increases on the rich, trash Social Security and Medicare, yadda and yadda. Since that clearly ain't gonna happen now (unless I misread Obana) I think they now fear the ire of their moneyed backers on the one hand, and the Tea Party loonies on the other. With not-quite-delusional visions of the Tea Party peasants approaching their homes with flaming torches and pitchforks, the "Conservatives" are fleeing for the safety of receptive neighboring kingdoms.

I gotta disagree. We are talking Teabagger loons here. If you talk the talk they don't care if you can't walk the walk. Most of them have Rascals or Hoverounds themselves. As Montag says, he's going to make a lot more money at the Heritage Foundation than he did as a Senator. Maybe the appeal of being in the Senate palls when you're going to still be stuck in the minority, especially since Reid sounds serious about de-fanging the filibuster this time. Maybe he really imagines some crackpot think tank will be a more visible platform for him.

As for whom Haley will appoint, I wonder if we can get Gingrich. At least he's usually entertaining. Next year we could be talking about admitting the Moon as a red state to offset Puerto Rico.
