According to CBS News tonight, those assholes have driven the price of oil up $20 per barrel, which, they report, translates into fifty cents a gallon for gasoline.
So every time you gas up your car, an eighth (or more) of what comes out of your pocket is going into the pockets of speculators.

w3ski, aviation gasoline in these parts runs $1.50 a gallon more than car gas. It's been that way for years.
ReplyDeleteMileage varies. You're not going to find much that gets over 20mpg, but on the other hand, you can usually fly direct. I'm planning a long trip and I'll shave 20% or better off the road distance. If you've got the right circumstance, like flying from eastern MA to Provincetown, it can even work out cheaper. Not often, though.

I once had a friend with an Aero-Commander(?), two engine, six cyl. turbocharged thingy. He used av-gas like Toilet paper.He almost went down once cause he 'forgot' to turn on the de-icer, cost him a couple Grand in body damage when he "remembered".
Airplanes are facinating but I like my feet on the ground.
