Wir Fahren auf Keine Freiheit BART!*

Shutting off cell phone coverage is not just for fascists and tyrants anymore.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit did the same thing.
BART officials acknowledged Friday afternoon that they had switched off the transit system's underground cell phone network, which runs from Balboa Park Station through the Transbay Tube, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday to prevent protesters from coordinating plans to stop trains.

Probably no truth to the rumor that Chief Kenton W. Rainey is teaching his officers how to march in a goose-step. But that may not be so far-fetched, since BART cops already have a record of murdering people.

The rumor that the BART employees greet each otehr b rasign their right arm and saying "heil Direktor Murray" is probably equally untrue.

  1. Nothing new under the sun .....
In the mid 60's I was a student at Berkeley High during the 'riots'.
The Authorities established a "war zone" around a certain area of the city where riots were more common and rioters most likely lived. Even the public bus that I took to school had to turn at the barricades. I had to walk a half dozen extra blocks to get to my campus, no big deal in itself but there were at least two squads of National Guard with Bayonets fixed on old M1 Garands that I had to pass to get to or from my school.
That was not the America my text books described at all.
Also the numerous helicopter flybys, I happened to live right where their sweep turned a wide arc to go back downtown.
Also the Tanks and Armored Personel Carriers parked in the open down at the local Marina.
We didn't have 'cell phones' then but the bayonets were what got my attention more than anything.
Been there and back once already.
Not looking forward to another turn at it.
