Why Now?

I am puzzled at the timing of the release of President Obama's birth certificate.

The birthers were making utter fools of both themselves and the Republican party. Why not continue to let them act like a pack of racist clowns?

Why end the farce now?

  1. What makes you think the farce will end? For that matter, you probably don't believe that there is a little man in your refrigerator that turns the light on and off with the door.
    Fools, all of you!

  2. It won't make any difference. He may not be a foreigner anymore, but he is still not white.

  3. I don't see the farce ending. The guy at WND has already said that there are other issues and the long form raises more questions than it answers. The only people who believe this nonsense are racists and ignorant tools. I don't seen them changing because of this.

  4. You optimist, you. You think this will end anything?

  5. EBM, Obama has figured that the core birthers have too much invested in the notion that Obama is a secret Kenyan Muslim Islamist (a.k.a. "a ni**er"), and will double down on the crazy. In short, he's betting that this will not only *not* shut up the birthers, but will make them look like even loonier lunatics to the majority of Americans.

The polls showing that a sizable percentage of Americans were starting to believe the birthers under the "where there's smoke, there's fire" principle might have had something to do with it too.

In any event, this is the right time to do it, from a political calculation point of view. It basically takes it off the plate in the media for the rest of the campaign cycle and it's close enough to the election that the media with its ten second attention span won't have forgotten that "hey, the birthers are nuts, ignore them" until *after* the election, hopefully.

Of course, the Obama administration making political calculations rather than, like, actually governing, is somewhat the problem for his re-election campaign... let's just say this is par for the course for Obama, and leave it at that.

  6. Simple. Because they won't stop and Obama knows it. This will just throw more gas on the fire. The weirdos won't stop and it will benefit Obama.

  7. Just makes 100% certain that even if GOD himself were to run as a Republican he would not get my vote ever again ! And I'm not even really a liberal lol

  8. Perhaps because it makes Trump a stronger candidate in the eyes of the far right. As we all can see, he's an unlikely winner in the Republican primary, and making him stronger will prod his ego into running as a far-right independent...splitting the right wing vote and assuring a win for the D's.
