NASA and the Air Force attempted to launch a new climate satellite from Vandenburg AFB aboard an Orbital Sciences Corp. Taurus rocket. The nose fairing didn't come off when it should, so the rocket was too heavy, it didn't get into orbit and it crashed.*

* There will probably be an unfounded rumor soon that the fairing was sabotaged by an agent of the Koch brothers since the last thing they'd want to see is somebody studying climate change. But it is kind of interesting how it is the climate observation sats that are crashing on launch.
