Coming Soon, to an Airspace Near You

Gorgon Stare.

I suspect that it's not going to be terribly long until they find a use for that system here.

  1. Already here, mostly. I recently saw a new panoramic security camera demonstrated that gives you a 180 degree view, and will automatically issue alerts and flash a box around the perp when someone enters the view and does something unusual such as linger too long at a security-sensitive point. The only difference is that we're mounting these things on the sides of public and commercial buildings, rather than flying them in the sky. It's interesting that in the private security industry we have software to do this and apparently Gorgon doesn't, but (*shrug*). The DoD hasn't been at the forefront of innovation since, well, 1945 or so.
