9-11 First Responders: The Fuckery of Broadcast News (and the Republicans)

Jon Stewart uses his last show of the year to go after the fuckers who did nothing to help the 9-11 first responders and the asshats in television news who have ignored the story.

Sure, one expects as much from the RNC Propaganda Channel, aka Fox News, but there was only one cable news channel which paid real attention to the story. You might be surprised to learn which one.

He had four 9-11 first responders, including a man who has stage 4 cancer. They have had to fight for health insurance. The men and women who ran down to help during and after the attacks weren't thinking of themselves.

Sen. Kyle was irritated at the prospect that the Senate might have to cut its Christmas break short. See what the firefighter and the cop had to say to that:

Jon Stewart pushed Mike Huckabee into a corner on this and Huckabee finally admitted that the GOP was seriously fucking up on this issue. Huckabee also seems to think that the "news part" of Fox News is separate from the opinion part, which Stewart didn't buy for a second.

UPDATE: That cabal of evil known as the "U.S. Chamber of Commerce" has its fingerprints all over the attempts to kill the Zadroga Bill.

  1. I don't understand how the Democrats have been given these issues over and over again... issues where the thugs are putting their own heads on the chopping block... and the Democrats never, ever, ever let the execution happen.

If I was a Dem politician, I'd be on TV every night, volunteering to talk about anything the hosts wanted, and I'd mention this issue EVERY SINGLE NIGHT.

I would never let another Republican mention 9/11 without interrupting his speech with a rant about this.

Just for publicity, I'd try to pass a law that says firemen have the right, when called to a fire at a Republican's building, of first sitting down at a negotiating table to work out the financial details of their eventual response. Just to highlight this story.

For shit's sake, they could easily have forced the Repubs onto TV every night for a month before the elections, trying to explain why they were blocking tax cuts for the middle class. And they always let them off the hook.

Maybe Democrats vote Republican, and want to be ruled by them.

  2. Really exquisitely ironic update: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dc/2010/12/gop-senator-calls-cops-on-911.html#ixzz18IgqA9g7

Calling 911 for first responders to protect you from 9/11 first responders. Sounds like something out of Dr. Suess' evil twin.
