What is the point, other than to further piss off your viewers? If you want to make sure the frakking thing works, then why not test it at 4 AM, when about all that is running is soft porn and infomercials?

In my area, Emergency Broadcast System tests are initiated by the local 911 centers or local emergency management agencies. I don't think cable providers even have direct access to EBS; it's all run by The Government.
ReplyDeleteEAS tests come in two flavors, RMTs (Required Monthly Tests) that run once monthly, statewide, at a regular time(s). RWTs (guess) run once a week at a RANDOM day and time; sometimes when you do not want them.
ReplyDeleteThey are random so all the people who might have run them get a chance to do it when it's not for keepsies: the main thing that is being tested is the human element.
